Pippa Small x London Design Festival

We are delighted to be showcasing Pippa Small’s collections with Turquoise Mountain in Shoreditch this September, and hosting a panel discussion about the power of handmade.

In 2008, Pippa forged a powerful partnership with the arts charity Turquoise Mountain. Over the years, they have worked together with artisans in Afghanistan, Myanmar, and the Levant to create beautifully handmade pieces.

Pippa and Shoshana Stewart, president of Turquoise Mountain, will be joining Matthew Bourne and Edmund Le Brun - co-founders of Christopher Farr and ISHKAR respectively – to discuss their partnerships with Turquoise Mountain, and the power of handmade.

These partnerships, however, are about more than crafting objects; they are about crafting hope and optimism for the future. Every piece is handmade with pride and love, honouring the delicate inconsistencies of the human touch – rich in legacy and history.

Turquoise Mountain supports artisans and their communities with everything they need to sustain themselves and revitalise their heritage, while simultaneously preserving the ancient techniques used.

In today’s world, machine-powered techniques threaten ancient skills, but through incredible work like Turquoise Mountain’s partnerships, the sustainability of cultural heritage and ancient technique is not only possible, but probable.

Join Pippa Small at London Design Festival at Christopher Farr, 18 Calvin St, London E1 6HF.
