There is a wonderful tradition of articulated silverfish jewel work in Myanmar around Lake Inle. The Shan people create wondrously playful, handmade pieces, which are usually worn as a pair of male and female fish.
The workshop of the brilliant goldsmiths of arts charity Turquoise Mountain in Yangon has created a wonderful school of fish for this collection. From needlefish and catfish to large, mythical fish, these golden beauties are exquisite and showcase their tremendous skill. This has been a challenging year in Myanmar, and the artisans again show their resilience and triumph through their work.
