Titpin Collection
Titpin means “forest” in Myanmar, and this collection imagines a stroll through a Southeast Asian forest of ancient trees and oversized leaves. Titpin is a collection of handmade gold leaves, flowers, and butterflies, crafted by the talented goldsmiths of Yangon in collaboration with the arts charity Turquoise Mountain.
Myanmar has faced many challenges in recent years-war, earthquakes, and flooding. Turquoise Mountain supports artisans and their communities with humanitarian assistance as well as meaningful work. The goldsmiths come from generations of skilled craftspeople, and I consider their work with gold to be among the finest in the world.
The artisans have created a chrysanthemum pendant with trembling gold petals, a butterfly that seems poised to take flight, and gold leaves that feel freshly picked from the tree. Highlights include a connecting flower bracelet, a butterfly ring that appears to emerge from the gold itself, and delicate petal hoop earrings. This is a display of masterful goldsmithing-a collection that brings to mind the wonder and beauty of the natural world.
