Part 3: Myanmar, Chapter 4: The Jewellery
Some of my favourite pieces made in Myanmar with Turquoise Mountain are the Lake Inle-style articulated fish. They’re charming and delightful pieces that really highlight the goldsmith’s skills. We also make wonderful flowers in Myanmar; each petal is so beautifully observed from nature and recreated in gold. The opening-closing Lotus flower is another incredible piece made in Myanmar, the Buddhist symbol of coming out of the mud and reaching up to the sky and enlightenment from ignorance.
