18kt Gold Posy Hoops

£750

The garden collection has woven itself through every one of Pippa's collections over the past 30 years.

Pippa distinctly remembers sitting under a large leafy Peepal tree in the garden of the small yellow palace in Jaipur, where she has stayed ever since her first visit to India as a teenager. The tree at first seemed empty, but the longer she looked, the more she saw chipmunks scurried up and down the trunk twitching their long tails, a pair of heavy-winged, large beaked hornbills flapped from branch to branch, bulbuls, treepies, and darting bee-eaters, hoopoes and monkeys breaking branches and throwing them to the ground.

The garden was alive with life, drawn and gathered in a desert place by the leafy green shade, and from then onwards, Pippa gathered seeds, nuts, leaves, fruits, and flowers to create in gold. The goldsmiths laughed at Pippa, but eventually, they started to enthusiastically bring in little handfuls of lentils and beans that their wives thought she may appreciate.

Pippa continued this love of natural forms and shapes with the goldsmiths in Myanmar and with the Colombian cocoa and tamarind pods in Narinio.

The simple yet eternal message of renewal and regeneration, of hope and life that lies in a seed, and the ephemeral temporary exquisiteness of a flower are symbols worth keeping close to.

Meet The Maker

Om Prakash

The son of a farmer, Om learnt stone cutting when young. He first specialized in carving crystal Gods for the temples, but now runs a small workshop in Sanganer, just outside jaipur. He has a wonderful sensitivity to stones and has worked with us for over twenty years.

Cutting each gem, following its individual, organic shape and giving the merest hint of enhancement with the subtlest facets, he elicits a gentle sparkle from each. As the years have passed, we have experienced many of life’s adventures together. He has had two children, one a jewellery design student, the other, a training accountant.

Om now has a team who have learnt his skills, share his respect and understanding for these organic jewels and together, they continue to do a wonderful job.
