Péro

Péro means 'to wear' in Marwari, the local language of Rajasthan. Handmade with love from India, the collection designed by Aneeth Arora is inspired by the dressing style of the local people, which is so effortlessly stylish and trendy.

Péro interprets international aesthetics using local materials and skills, taking inspiration from what surrounds us, to make a product that connects with people, wherever in the world it is placed.

The Indian-ness of Péro rests in the textile process, where materials pass from the hands of one craftsperson to the other, carrying forward the Indian tradition of hand-crafting and creating pieces that are at once unique.

The resulting garment evokes some sense of culture from where it originates. This culture communicates internationally in a way that the wearer looks equally at ease in the streets of Paris or London, as she does here, in India. The look is not about an age group or season, it is about a mindset, a willingness to incorporate the effortless style of the locals.

Re-visiting her old travel journals, Aneeth Arora re-discovered the colours and textures of the countries she had visited.

Inspired by, the often common elements of bright hand embroideries, neon tassels, vibrant pom poms and beaded hangings which decorate the indigo clothing from Peru, Mexico, Guatemala and China, she has inter-woven them into her own sensibilities. With the help of her loyal team of skilled craftsmen, they interpreted this love of details and translated them into works of art.

We are delighted to have the new collection of clothes from Péro available at our boutique in Notting Hill.
