Charity Necklace to Support Artisans in Bethlehem

As a jeweller, I strive to find ways to create collections with consideration for the impact and the livelihoods of the artisans we work with. At Pippa Small, this has been our mission since day one.

For over thirty years, we have worked in areas impacted by conflict, Afghanistan, the Levant, Myanmar, and Colombia. During moments of particular unrest, providing steady employment to artisans on the ground has been one of the most effective ways for us to help.  For example, after the fall of Kabul in 2021, we launched a fundraising project giving 100% of profits from the sale of our Zindagi Now Necklaces to our artisans in Afghanistan. The continued outpouring of support from the Pippa Small community has impacted the livelihoods of more than 100 artisans in Kabul to date.

We are very proud to launch our latest project in Bethlehem with two artisans Tawfeeq and Samer Qattan, a father and son. Tawfeeq has been practicing his craft for over 40 years and taught the craft to his son in his workshop, “Golden Zaytouna”. Their work focusses particularly on the olive leaf – an ancient symbol of peace, wisdom, and a source of life and livelihood. More than a year ago, I travelled to Bethlehem and met with Tawfeeq and Samer, connected by Turquoise Mountain, charity that supports artisans across the globe. Sitting in their workshop, we began designing our first collection. Together, we created this silver olive branch necklace using traditional techniques.

The sales of our Sterling Silver Olive Branch Necklace directly support the artisans who handcrafted the piece, and 100% of the profits will go to the World Central Kitchen.
