Part 3: Myanmar, Chapter 2: Design, Hands, Land

Myanmar has been a place that has really filled my heart. Wherever you work, you take inspiration; from the land, the people, the culture, the heritage, the traditions, the architecture. All of these things feed into the design process and the collaboration with the artisans.

One of the great pleasures of working in Myanmar has been to see how people relate to and work with their materials. Tin Win, who we’ve worked with for many years, says that he won’t touch his tools unless he feels as though he is in a clear and positive mindset. The relationship between spirituality and making is seen so clearly through this, the materials come from the earth, and there’s an incredible respect for that.
